While newborns do not yet have fully developed senses and motor skills, they are learning rapidly about their new surroundings. It is critical to have a variety of sensory experiences for them to learn and enjoy as they begin their journey toward learning so many new skills.
Your new infant will activate all of their sensory systems with a range of toys and games. The majority of these toys would appeal to their visual, auditory, and tactile (touch) senses.
The most critical characteristics to look for in a toy are whether it is convenient for an infant to understand, brightly coloured and exciting, and multi-sensory.
As an infant, the kid won't be able to do anything with toys except stare at them while you keep them overhead. They should be able to understand and be involved in these objects as they reach 2-3 months.
Any of these toys are appropriate for children aged 2-3 months to 7 months. Here are a few of my favourites that your baby will enjoy and will keep them entertained for a while.

Lil' Foodie Chew Teether Tubes
At this age, your kid will begin putting EVERYTHING in his mouth (and this does not stop with the newborn stage!). The Lil' Foodie Chews Teether Tube is an excellent choice for toddlers who are teething.
If your infant can grip items (around 2-3 months), they can quickly grab and chew at the same time. Lil' Foodie Chew Teether Tubes mimic familiar healthy foods which will grab their attention, and their tube shape makes them easy to hold!
They're the best size to go in any baby's mouth and help soothe difficult-to-reach back molars.
The Lil' Foodie Chews Teething Tube can aid in the development of your baby's fine motor skills (grasping), hand-eye coordination (bringing it to his mouth), and oral sensory (teething) needs.
Crinkle Books
Crinkle books are arguably one of the only toys your newborn baby will need to support sensory and cognitive growth. Color and sound both serve to inspire their young eyes and minds.
These little books could keep my daughter entertained for the whole day. When they reach the age of three months, they will like the sensory (auditory and tactile) input it gives, as well as flipping the pages.
It can get them interested in books, but it is mainly just fun to hear the crinkle sound.
Multi-Purpose Plush Toys
To relax the senses, this fluffy plush toy mixes vivid colors, textures, and songs. It has a crinkly look that babies love to feel and harmonic sounds that they can control, as well as hanging bits to suck on and control.
Toys with clips are often very handy because they can be attached to a car seat, bouncer, or stroller. This ensures that your baby does not accidentally throw & lose their toy (happens more often than you think!)
Sensory Balls
These sensory balls are ideal for when baby is able to grip items with their whole hand. Babies will love the various textures, weights, and shapes of these balls. They are perfect for fine motor manipulation as well as tactile sensory development in little ones!
When they get a little older, they may begin to learn how to throw and place them in containers.
Stacking Cups
Stacking cups are a big hit with kids of all ages, particularly when your baby approaches 6 months and new developmental milestones. Despite the fact that I've had a lot of stacking cups through the years, Green Toys are really eco-friendly and healthy for a kid. They are free of BPA, Phthalates, PVC, and other coatings, but you don't have to worry about chemicals or lead — a big bonus when you have a teething infant that puts everything in their mouth!
Squishy Stacking Blocks
As babies reach 6 months of age, Infantino blocks are ideal for open-ended play. They not only provided a soothing tactile sensation for the baby to feel (each block has a different animal and number), but they were also a favourite to use as a teether. This is a fantastic gift idea for any baby aged 3-6 months!
Tummy Time Mirror
During tummy time, a mirror encourages the baby to see himself whether sitting up or lying down. He'll be fascinated by his own reflection and seeing his own profile. When he looks in the mirror, he can even chuckle and giggle.
Mirrors are perfect for growth and your child will gradually realize that the reflection is really them! It's an easy but powerful visual tracking aid for growing babies!
